ECOVATION COMPLETES WASTE STREAM PRETREATMENT PROJECT FOR THE DANNON COMPANY

Ecovation has commenced operation of an innovative wastewater pretreatment system for The Dannon Company, the White Plains, NY-based manufacturer of the world’s top-selling brand of yogurt. The design-build project at Dannon’s Minster, OH facility was completed under a fast-track 15-week schedule.

Wastewater pretreatment began on July 17, 2007. Once the system is fully operational, it will eliminate the limitations wastewater management capacity had placed on manufacturing, allowing Dannon to expand production at this important facility.

“An important aspect of our approach is offering focused solutions that consider our client’s future production and discharge requirements,” said Diane C. Creel, CEO and Chairman of Ecovation. “Ecovation has successfully developed systems that address the critical waste stream issues for Dannon.”

Ecovation’s customized pretreatment system replaces the facility’s existing activated sludge aerobic treatment system. It incorporates primary and secondary dissolved air flotation (DAF) systems from Krofta Technologies, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ecovation, and moving bed biofilm bioreactors (MBBR) from Anox Kaldness, along with other ancillary equipment, to provide a comprehensive, total treatment solution.
