High-Strength Process Wastewater Installation

This system is designed to treat 5,000 lbs of COD/day with average flows of 75,000 gpd, and a peak of 150,000 gpd. There exists the possibility for expansion at some future time to treat 10,000 lbs COD, which would include another stream in addition to the plant’s wastewater.

The facility is faced with increasingly stringent discharge standards, due to its geographic location. Unlike other installations in areas where effluent sodium levels are not as restrictive, this system will operate with minimal alkalinity additions in order to stay within the TDS and EC discharge parameters. As a result, the MFT vessels themselves are larger than they would be for a comparable waste stream in a less restrictive area, so as to accommodate the reduced loading rate necessary for compliance.
