Dairy Waste Byproducts

Cream Cheese Production

Ecovation is constructing a waste stream pretreatment and renewable energy production plant for a global cream cheese manufacturer. Ecovation’s waste stream pretreatment system incorporates its Mobilized Film Technology (MFT) to process high-strength low protein whey and UF permeate – byproducts of the cream cheese making process. The system will generate biofuel, which will be supplied to the customer to offset the use of natural gas in the manufacturing plant. In addition, the MFT pretreatment system eliminates the current costly disposal practices – such as animal feed and land application – by treating these materials and converting them to energy.

Benefits:
• Biogas expected to offset a significant percentage of theof manufacturing facility’s natural gas requirements
• Eliminate risk from disposal of high-strength wastes
• No capital outlay by the customer
• Reduced surcharges
